Any weeds which would survive I could remove by hand. MOSS helps online eSport leagues to control their players fair-play and identity. I would then reapply the moss, tamp it down and water it, and eventually it would spread to cover the whole yard. I was thinking about carefully scraping off all the moss, then digging up and flipping the whole yard to a depth of around 30cm (1 ft), so that the existing grass would get buried quite deep. So I have an idea, for which I'd like some feedback: I thought about solarising the grass, but I'm concerned about what the neighbours would say (I live on the ground floor of a small apartment building, with my yard just next to the entrance), if I covered my yard in cardboard and mulch for a whole season. I managed to establish a small patch of pure moss by plucking out all grass and weeds by hand, leaving just the moss, but this process proved to be too slow and labour intensive to apply to the whole lawn. With the right products in hand, you can control moss and enjoy a luxuriant, moss-free lawn. This videos shows what we were able to estab. The soil is clay, the yard is oriented towards the west and shaded half of the day, I have some small trees and a hedge around it, and I live in zone 7b (continental Europe). Tommy Cowett shows the results after one year of applying a mixture of buttermilk and sulfur to bare clay soil. I have purposefully not been "maintaining" the lawn, other than cutting the grass, so I have quite a few patches, which are perhaps 70% moss. The appearance of moss usually indicates you have a number of these conditions present in your yard. I have a small (20 sqm / 215 sqft) patch of lawn, which I'd like to turn into a moss lawn in a kinda-Japanese style. Conditions that favor the growth of moss.
